GALLERY JAC
Dedicated to Emerging & Local NYC Artists
GALLERY JAC, an online art gallery exhibiting Emerging and Local New York City artists, is an innovative yet somewhat innocent experiment in Contemporary Art conceived by me, John Andrew Cipriano. Relatively new to the New York City art world, in the past few years, I have immersed myself in city's artistic scene. Constantly searching for and studying emerging and local artists, I try to get their work exposed to and appreciated by a wider audience.
Always a believer in the quality and impact of art created in the great city of New York by resident visionaries, I attempt to develop a relationship between the emerging artist and the lover of art while at the same time learning all I can about art and life and the creative process.
I do not claim to be an expert art historian, nor do I admit to years and years of art-world experience and unlimited connections. But I do confess to a truly inquisitive nature and a genuine love of art that encourages me to explore the works of the myriad of new artists painting in New York and around the world today. Once I meet an artist in whom I truly believe, I then work my hardest to pursue any and all avenues of appropriate public presentation for the artist and their work, enabling them to focus their energies on the creative process.
HISTORY
GALLERY JAC has a long history, at least in the mind of one man, if not the annuls of cultural civilization. Wanting to find a way to encourage my favorite artists of the past and of today, I studied and worked in every cultural/artistic institution I could find for the past fifteen years.
But only recently, after working at a New York Gallery, did it occur to me that although it is an incredible amount of work, directing a Gallery can be challenging, exciting and oftentime just plain fun. Fortunately, with today's technological advances, outlets like the World Wide Web are easy access for even the most computer/technologicaly challenged and allow people like me to disseminate information instantly about a variety of artistic topics.
After years of studying art and art history, I ultimately wanted to become a part of it -- the intense and passionate world of artistic expression -- and I have been given that wish with this new web site and eventually with a gallery space of my own.
The future is now my concern. And this site and my Blog will keep all visitors up to date on the goings on not just in my small corner of the art world, but also the events and happenings going on around the world!
LETTER TO ARTISTS
I want to explain a little more about myself and my future desires and goals. I have been studying the arts and humanities for years and have degrees in literature, art history an appreciation, marketing, networking and customer service. And now I am looking to help at least some of the many talented artists at work in and around the city today.
As my advertisement and my web site mention, I am looking to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with an artist whereby I am given the opportunity to: (1) encourage the viewing and appreciation of their work by strategically placing it on the Internet (on my website and on a select group of fine art informative sites), (2) place selected works in NYC galleries and/or NYC retail establishments (I know a few art dealers and shop owners who are willing to hang any artists I might find for their walls), (3) expose the public to both the artist and the artwork through a variety of marketing techniques, including the possible creation of an artist’s catalog of current works, and (4) attempt to sell the works to art lovers through the web site, at galleries and at art fairs by utilizing the above techniques. (All these points mentioned above are more fully explained in much greater detail in my more “official” Consignment Agreement). Again, as I mentioned on my advertisement, I am making no promises other than that I will use all my education and experience to present your work to a hopefully receptive and willing public.
